Adaptive Impedance-Conditioned Phase-Locked Loop for the VSC Converter Connected to Weak Grid

In this paper, an adaptive version of the impedance-conditioned phase-locked loop (IC-PLL), namely IC-PLL (AIC-PLL), is proposed. The has recently been proposed to address issue synchronisation with a weak AC grid by supplementing conventional synchronous reference frame (SRF-PLL) additional virtual impedance term. resulting aims synchronise converter remote and stronger point in grid, hence increasing upper bound on achievable power transfer achieved VSC connected grid. However, variable strength imposes another challenge operation IC-PLL. This because requires estimation methods estimate value part. AIC-PLL, part estimated appending dynamic exciting method, closed involved so that values inductance resistance are internally adapted. Hence, becomes effectively viable for case variable, where unnecessary. results show relies AIC-PLL ability approximately equal theoretical maximum while maintaining satisfactory performance.
